Old Obituaries in Saline County.

I am not sure just how many newspapers were in existence in the late 19th century in Saline County, so my research is very limited in that direction.

My Grandfather, Bartholomew Hamm, died at McAllister Springs in 1907, and I have a copy of his obit which appeared in the Brownsville Herald.

My great-grandfather, William Hamm, died February 20, 1880 at McAlister Springs. He was 85 years old and a War of 1812 soldier of Virginia service but I have never found even a clue of an obit for him. Seems rather strange. I would think there would have been some word of his death.

Any advice from out there? Thanks.

Charles Hamm
