It is believed Samuel Wells Sullivan (1777-1860) was related to the Sullivan and Wells families from New Hampshire. These folks served in various military and political positions during and after the Revolutionary War, and their marriages are well documented. The gory details of "Old Sam's" ancestry have yet to be conclusively documented, but recent "Discoveries" by various researchers suggest things might not be quite as complicated as they once appeared.
