My gg-grandmother was Ruhama Elizabeth Scott b. 1840 in Pettis. Adam Scott's father, Adam Calhoun Scott b.1746, had an older sister who was also Ruhama. She was born at sea, along with twin Patrick, and she died at sea.
I have William C. P. on the 1850 Pettis census still at home with the family. William is the name of Adam Calhoun's father. Calhoun and Pettis show up in the family a lot.
If that is the same one, I think there is a William married to a Margaret Maynes (I think) listed in Collin Co., TX in the marriage book. There were other Scott families there that aren't related so I have never been sure if this was our William or one of theirs. Have you found him on the 1860 census anywhere. I haven't looked for him in Collin Co. (I know there is a Wm. W. Scott 24 MO listed in 1860 married to a Barbry A.18 IA. They have a son David E. 2 TX. Don't know if he has any connection to this line, but is in the same area on the census.)
I have 3 pages of the 1860 Collin Co. census in a typed form and that's where I found Adam and some of his children. They all lived in the same area as several other of my lines. Adam is buried at Fitzhugh Cemetery at Forest Grove in SE Collin. I have a photo of his grave. My Snider ggg-grandparents started the church there and lots of my family are buried there--3 of my grandparent's families were from that neighborhood.
Do you have a copy of the marriage permisson? I have a photo of Adam Scott, if you are interested. He was a Primitive Baptist minister. I also have a lot on Nancy Elizabeth O'Bannon's family. I almost have my DAR papers complete to join under Adam Calhoun Scott.
