on-site research

I'm heading for Puxico where my grandmother was born to do some on-site research in a week or two. I thought I would walk some cemeteries, check at the library, maybe find some newspaper archives, or go to the County courthouse in Bloomfield. I'm kind of new at this. Does anyone have any suggestions for good places to do research? My grandmother's grandparents came from the Ste Genevieve and Farmington areas, so I thought I might also go up there.

surnames: Monteith, Cunningham, Harris
