Thanks Dan, I suspected that.I was looking for Jones mainly,as I believe Wickerhams came here a few years after their involvement in the 'Whiskey Rebellion", in Pa..I did search for "Jean", "Johns",etc.,but found nothing near it. The St.Louis County library films are in bad shape and difficult to read. I've searched for Thomas Jones in S.Ill.counties,late 1700's also. Monroe, just across from Jefferson, was home to a few Americans then, but no luck. Thomas Jones was definitely in Jefferson County before 1780, hes just a tough old guy to trace.I am thinking now he may have been fairly old when he came to Mo.,had already been married and had grown children, some of whom could have been married, late 1700's.
