Our Gibson and allied families reunion is always held on the third Saturday in July in Doniphan. This year it will be the 17th at the Methodist Church on Plum St. Everyone is welcome. Thanks, Gena Gibson Davis Gibson, Henson, Hayes and Santhuff Reunion (undated and unsourced newspaper clipping, probably from the Pocahontas Arkansas newspaper circa 1940’s) On Saturday, August 23, the following families gathered at the Chester Hayes home for a reunion: The five remaining children of the late Uncle Jess Gibson, three daughters and two sons, some of whom had not seen each other for 31 years, Mrs. Laura Santhuff of Redford, Mo., W. R. Gibson of Bristow, Okla., J. R. Gibson, Jr., Poyner, Mo., Mrs. Charlie Henson, Warm Springs [Arkansas], and Mrs. Myrtle Hayes, Poyner, Mo. Children of the above mentioned who were present and their families are: Mr. and Mrs. Rob Santhuff of Marston, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Barnes and three children of Redford, Mo., Mrs. W. R. Gibson and daughter, Corene, Mrs. J. R. Gibson and son Dow, Charlie Henson, son and daughter, J. B. and Ruby, Chester Hayes, son and daughters, Paul, Christine, Jesse and Reva, Mr. and Mrs. Audie Stevenson and three children of Sikeston, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Baker and little daughter of Ponder, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Schlachter and two daughters, Pearlie Lee and Jewel, Mr. and Mrs. Stroud Gibson of Doniphan, Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Pennell and five children of Doniphan, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Henson and four children of Middlebrook [Arkansas], Mr. and Mrs. Willis Henson and three sons of Poyner, Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Waymon and two children of Pocahontas, Misses Neeta and Nella Rosenbalm of Birmingham, Ala. Those present that were not related were: Miss June Barr of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. George Bullock, Mrs. Jestine Carroll of Lilburn, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Ben Holland and daughter, Miss Ida and son, Rand, Marvin Holland of Springfield [Missouri], Ida and Lonnie Cates of Warm Springs, Mr., and Mrs. J. P. Campbell, J. P. Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Shipman, daughter and little granddaughter, all of Doniphan, Mr. and Mrs. M. m. Ator and Miss Dellie Jones. A fine dinner was enjoyed by the big crowd out in the grove in front of the house. After dinner was over a short talk was made in honor of the reunion and happy meeting of relatives by Bro. Wesley Henson. This was a very happy occasion and one that will linger in the minds of those present for years to come. -------next article------------ Gibson Reunion Held at Chester Hayes Home (undated and unsourced newspaper clipping, probably from the Doniphan Prospect News circa 1940’s) On last Sunday there was a reunion of the Gibson family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cheser Hayes near Poyner [Missouri] at which there were present 92 people, all Gibson kin except 12. All the surviving children of the late Uncle Jess Gibson were present, being three daughters and two sons, some of whom had not seen each other for 31 years. A picnic dinner was enjoyed by the big crowd out in the grove across north of the house. After noon the Rev. Wesley Henson preached. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Willie Gibson and Corene Gibson of Brisow, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Davidson of Stroud, Oklahoma; Neta and Nelly Rosenbalm and June Barr of Birmingham, Ala.; Hurshel, Imogene, Pauline and Baby Joe Waymon of Pocahontas, Ark.; Dock, Virginia, Audie, Katie, Junior, Evelyn and Dale Stephenson, Jerry and Shirley Hornback, Sikeston [Missouri]; Mrs. George Bullock, Mrs. Bertha Johnson and Justine Carroll of Lilburn [Missouri]; Irwin, Ola, Baby May, Eugene and Herman Barnes and Laura Santhuff of Marston [Missouri]; Wesley, Willa, Unice, Cloice, Marvin and Mildred Henson of Middlebrook, Ark.; Charlie, Ruby, Ruby and Bee Henson, Jake, lela and Jewell Schlachter, Pearl Lee Morris, and Lonnie and Ida Cates of Warm Springs, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Shipman, Beulah and Zola Jean Shipman, Judge and Mrs. J.
