Theophilus SHUCK's obituary reads:
Shelby County Herald -- Shelbyville, Mo, Wed., Sept 13 1893
FELL DEAD -------
- Thursday of last week APP SHUCK, a farmer residing near Hatch come to New London to attend court and transact other business, and late in the evening, in company with another gentleman, started for his home. Upon arriving at a small branch about two miles west of town, and after letting his pony drink, he dismounted to arrange his saddle, which slipped back. After doing so he placed his foot in the stirrup to mount when his friend noticed him turn suddenly and fall to the ground, and before he could dismount and reach him he was dead. Coroner HICKLIN was notified, and accompanied by quite a number repaired to the scene. After listening to the statement of the gentleman who was with SHUCK at the time of his death, the coroner concluded that an inquest was necessary, and ordered the body carried to Street's Undertaking Establishment, where it was washed and prepared for burial. Mr. SHUCK was a man of about 40 or 45 years, had a wife and several children; was quiet and inoffensive, never seemed to care for the accumulation of money or property, but withall was a good citizen.

There was a book written by A. Louise Shelton called "Greenwell-Little-Donnally-Hardy" and it reads:
John Theophilis "App" SHUCK, born 1851 Mo, died 8-24-1893 Clarence, Shelby Co, Mo. Buried Brush Creek Cemetery.
In the genealogy that I've researched it indicates that Theophilus SHUCK's ancestors came from Germany. Theophilus's grandfather was John SHUCK b 1789 who married Elizabeth COOPER in Washington Co, KY, 1810. John died in Ralls Co, Mo, 1854.
I've also talked with Ron Leake at the Ralls Co Historical Society (very nice and informative) and he doesn't know where the records for Brush Creek Cemetery Plots would be.
My sister and I walked the entire cemetery and couldn't find a headstone for him. I've also visited the Ralls County Courthouse and have the records that show where a suit was bought to bury him in, but those records don't list where the burial took place.
You've been very kind to let me know there's a Brush Creek Cemetery in Macon Co, Mo. Thank you for your offer of help.
