I am looking for help in finding the probate record for Benjamin Benn. He died before April 4, 1829. (see below).
This is what I have:
Probate folder 131:
To the Clerk of the Ralls County Court. This is to certify to you that I hereby renounce my right to Administer on the estate of Benjamin Benn decd., as his widow. Given under my hand and seal this 4th day of April 1829.
Sarah Benn, widow of the deceased.
The names of the heirs and Representatives of Benjamin Benn decd & their place of Residence towit, the Heirs of John Benn in the State of Ohio, William Benn in the state of Illinois, Hannah Benn of Missouri, Ralls County, Nathan Watson the husband of Modlin Benn decd of the state of Illinois, Samuel Benn of Missouri, Ralls County, Nelson Benn, Perry Benn, Temperance & Nancy Benn, Solomon & George Benn of Ralls County, MO.
I recieved this typewritten portion of the estate settlement. I would very much like to see a copy of the original Probate folder. I am most interested in the part that reads
"Nathan Watson the husband of Modlin Benn dec'd of the State of Illinois"
I am a descendant of Nathan and Modlin (Benn) Watson. I am hoping to find out for sure that her name was Modlin. Nathan's will (written in Illinois) states her name as Mottena and that she was the mother of his two sons. Nathan had married again and had children by that second wife whom he also lists. As the above quote states, she (Modlin or Motenna) died before the estate of her father was settled and her husband Nathan had moved to Illinois.
Thank you for any help you can give,
