Hi Donna,
I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about Albert Hair's family other than what my Grandmother (his daughter) entered into the family Bible; his parents being James and Julia (Blair) Hair. Albert first shows up on the 1870 census in Platte County, Mo. as a farm hand. I even wondered if the wife of the couple he worked for could have been his sister, but I haven't been able to find that name, either.
I'm off for the summer, so I plan to visit the Platte County Historical Society/Museum in hopes of finding some information about the Hair family. In every census Albert states he and both parents were born in Kentucky, but without a county it's hard to locate information. Albert was born about 1851.
Do you have the name of your ancestor's husband? I need to read your message again. There were many people in the Platte County area (all of Missouri, for that fact) that migrated from Kentucky. There could be a link! I've tried searching with Haire, O'Hare, Hare, and probably several other variations to no avail. My Mom (Albert's Granddaughter) is 94, but she doesn't remember anything as he was killed several years before she was born. She was familiar with how he died, which was at a train crossing. I've found the newspaper articles at the time. If you'd like to keep in touch in order to figure out if there is a connection, answer this post and I'll give you my email.
