Death of Caples Burgess in 1879

The St. Joseph newspaper published an account of the death of Caples Burgess in December, 1879, stating that he was killed in New Market by his cousin, George Burgess. Caples is listed in a cemetery book as being buried in the Camden Point Cemetery, although I could not locate a grave marker there for him.

I am trying to determine the parents of Caples Burgess. George Burgess was listed as being a lawyer in St. Joseph and is shown in the 1880 census there in the home of Kate Cockerham. I believe George to be the son of John and Sarah "Sally" Cockerham Burgess, and Kate would have been a sister to Sally.

Any information about this situation would be gratefully received.
