Dear Karen:

I checked the MO. census records for 1850 and found a
Leighton Ewell, age 31, in Bates Co.,MO 'heading' a family
that included Doneilla, 78; Joshua, 42; Olivia, 23; Jane,
20; Maria,18; Wm.,16; Ephriam, 10; Ira, 8; and Henry &
Hennitha(?), 7. I would assume Doneilla,b. VA, is the
mother to Leighton and Joshua, both b. OH., with the
others Joshua's children. Ephriam was the first to be
born in MO. They all disappear in the 1860 MO. census.
Next week I will check another library that has some
Platte Co.,MO films inhopes of seeing Leighton's probate.
