Sherrill -- There are two Lairds with biographical sketches in the 1883 History.

[p.600] Dr. Notley H. Laird was born on June 18, 1845 in Ralls Co. and lived in Paynesville (Calumet Twp.) in Pike. His wife was Ida Hites of St. Louis and he was a member of the Baptist Church.

[p.973-974] Henry H. Laird was born in Ralls Co. on 4/8/1827 and was son of Isaac and Nancy Laird. He lived in Spencersburg (Spencer Twp.) in Pike. His wife was Lucinda Phears, and his four surviving children were William H., Freeman, Elijah, and Thomas. They belonged to the Christian Church.

Also mentioned in the History [p.588] is a Rosana Laird (died prior to 1864) who married Lewis M. Price of Ashley. He was a druggist in Clarksville (Calumet Twp), and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

If any of these are of interest to you, I can e-mail a transcript of the full bio. Good luck in your search. -- Susan
