I have been reading the message boards about Hartford Twp and enviorns. Several people had wondered if Hartford and New Hartford were used interchangably. My in-laws, Everett and Nellie Hays Moore were nearly lifelong inhabitants of the area (they sojourned in California for a few years in the late 1920's, returning to MO in 1936.) They used both New Hartford and Hartford when speaking of the town, mostly Hartford. Although by the time I first visited there it was just a small community, at one time it had, stores, churches and was an up and coming place. Artemisa Rector Moore, the author of History of Hartford Township was at one time a teacher in the area.
