John Henson COLLIER, the son of Amos C and Agnes Ann [WRIGHT] COLLIER of Phelps Co. MO has a tombstone in Edgar Springs Cemetery but he did not die in Phelps Co. MO nor is he actually buried in the cemetery.

Federal Census: 22y [April 1878; day laborer] 14 June 1900 in Imogene, Ouray Co CO

Died 8 January 1901 in Ouray Co CO

Daily Journal (Telluride CO) p.3] A hundred men over at Ouray are digging in a slide under which it is thought John Collier is Buried. 16 January 1901

Daily Journal (Telluride CO) p.3] Over at Ouray the search for the body of Joseph(sic) H. Collier, buried in a snow slide, has been abandoned. It will probably be well into summer before the melting snows uncover the body. 21 January 1901

Durango Democrat (Durango CO) State: p.1] Fifty members from the Ouray Miner's Union spent yesterday searching for the body of J. H. Collier who is supposed to have been caught in a snow slide on January 8. 22 January 1901

Silverton Standard (Silverton CO) p.5] J. H. Collier who was buried in the U.S. snowslide at Ouray of late date was last week given up at last by his friends who had instituted a search for his body. 26 January 1901

Daily Journal (Telluride CO) p. 3] The body of T.(sic) H. Collier, lost in a Savage snow slid in the Sneffles country last January, was recovered this week. 22 June 1901
