Harold:
Since I am not related to this family, I have not researched in depth for this query. On Ancestry Family Trees, there is the site which I used to answer about the ancestry of James Gambel/etc Gosnell( I see the middle spelled in several ways). The family I ran down was called, " Johns-Wilhite & Related Families", contact can be made at est3739@comcast.net

He gives the link between James Gosnell abt 1810 and Elizabeth Woolery abt 1810, and Peter 1725, as Joseph Sr. b abt 1769/70 VA, married Sally Wilkinson.

Sources listed 1787 Halifax Co. Tax List,"home of Peter"
1810 Barren Co Ky census "Gausnell"
1820 Lawrence Co TN
1830 Cooper Co MO
1840 Barren Co. KY.

Perhaps contacting this person would help get answers concerning the line past James 1810. He carries the line back several more generations in England. Sorry I don't have definate proof for you. Howard Boswell
