Sharon, "Pioneers of Pettis County" indicates Jesse and his wife were buried on their farm which you probably know. Ask Betty Wasson Singer if she knows where it was. She should have something on this site. If not, e-mail me direct at and I'll send you her address.
Go to Bureau of Land management (Eastern office) and you can get description of each parcel of land he bought from the government.
Thornleigh P.O. was north of Sedalia on the west side of the old highway. This puts it between the new U.S. 65 highway and the old highway. It was 6 and 1/2 mimes north of the intersection of 65 and 765 at the north edge of Sedalia. It is east of the present highway but the old highway is still there. Any one in that area should be able to tell you exactly.
