MK & T Shops

My great-grandfather, Bartley Brady, is listed in the 1880 census in Sedalia, MO, as working for the MK & T Shops. I do know he was a blacksmith and wonder if this was a blacksmith shop or possibly a shop for a railroad. Has anyone heard of this shop? I have tried other sites with no results.
