Margretta,
This is a shot in the dark. It all started when I learned that my great grandfather William Henry Miller was born in 1855 in Virginia and his father's name was Charley (Charles) I do not know his mother's name. I have searched the 1850 and 1860 Virginia census and cannot find Charles or William. I have my great grandfather from the 1880 Census every ten years until he died in 1928 in Oklahoma. In 1880 Arkansas census his birth is listed as Missouri but all of the other years it is listed as West Virginia or Virginia. I thought whom ever gave the information must of known that he had some connection to Missouri. That is when I started researching in Missouri. I found this family they are the only Charles with a child William in the 4 to 5 age range that I can find in the 1860 census. My great grandfather named several of his children the same names as the siblings in this family. I visited Pettis County a year ago this May. I didn't have much time to do much research because we arrived to late and we had to move on. I am going back soon. About all I had time for was to look at the marriage book. I found several of the siblings marriages. One of the girls married a Nathaniel H. Hill. I could not find her in the 1870 Missouri census. In 1880 she is in Daviess County, Jamesport township, family #184. Her brother George W. Miller is next door #183. In family #182 their is a Wirt Miller. I started searching him backwards and found him in the 1860 Missouri census age 2. His father was James W. Miller born in Virginia and his mother Harriet P. and the first four siblings were also born in Virginia. This maybe your family there is a Willis sibling. I am speculating that James my have been a younger borther to Charles. I did find James W. Miller in the 1850 Virginia census Pocahontas County, District 47, family #158. There is a William Allen living with them I speculate that he is a father-in-law. I have found most of the older children of Charles still in Missouri for several years. I am speculating that Charles and some of his younger children moved on to Arkansas. I hope that this doesn't confuse you to much and sure hope I am on the right track because I don't have anywhere else to go. Let me know if I can be of any more help.

Glenda Hardy
