Pettis County was organized in 1833. Georgetown was the first permanent county seat. That was from 1837 until 1865 when Sedalia became the county seat. There are no known papers for Georgetown. The oldest papers in Sedalia go back to about 1869. All deed records are in the office of the Recorder of Deeds in Sedalia. I am a native of Sedalia and do paid research in the area. If I can be of help, e-mail me direct for more information.
