Laura, Thanks for responding. According to baptism records at Immaculate Conception, James Austin Tucker's parents were William L. Tucker and S. A. Mattingly (I have the information on S. A. Mattingly's branch of the family but can find nothing on William L.) The 1880 Perry County Census lists:
William L, 31; Sarah Ann; Sarah R.A., 7; and James Austin, 4. Depending on when the birthday was, this would make William L born in either 1849 or 1850. Several of us researching this can find no William L of that approximate age/birthdate so cannot find his parents, etc.
I have a marriage certificate sent to me by a cousin which shows that Austin Tucker and Mattie Favell were married in Perry County, Missouri on August 19, 1899 by a Justice of the Peace. This is probably our James Austin Tucker and Martha J. Favell. They lived in Scott County during their marriage. Martha J. was born in 1863 and died in 1938. James Austin then remarried and lived in Cape Girardeau with his second wife until she died.
What I am really looking for is information on ancestors of William L. Tucker, b. 1849-50; and Martha J. (Mattie) Favell (Favell is her married name so don't know her maiden name). I do know that she had a son named Herschell(spelling?) Favell who ran away to Arkansas with his girlfriend because of family pressures. They were married there and lived the rest of their lives there.
Any information you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Paula Tucker
