Jeffrey,
Im not related but I did find some information for you.
No Deweins found in the 1850 or 1860 Perry Co., MO census, however, in the 1870 census we find:

Cinque Homme Township #424
DEVEIN John 31 m Bavaria
Lena 26 f MO
Caroline 1 f Mo
John 63 m Bavaria

Town of Perryville #3
HOOSS Thomas 26 m MO (hotel-keeper)
Catherine 26 f Prussia (landlady)
Emma 4 f MO
Rosa 2 f MO
Josephine 4/12 f MO (born March)
TUCKER Mary 17 f MO (works in hotel)
DELASSUS Frances 20 f MO (black-works in hotel)
MOORE William 21 m MO (laborer)
HANAPPLE John 54 m Prussia (tanner)
SEIBEL John J. 30 m MO (lawyer)
Matilda 23 f MO
CALDWELL William 20 m MO (laborer)
DEVEIN Jacob 19 m Bavaria (barber)
BIENLEIN John 65 m Bavaria (barber)
CADENBACH Charles 15 m IL

Did you notice they were listed as Deveins instead of Deweins?
-----------------------------------------------------
In the 1876 census:
Central Twnshp:
DEWEIN John 38 m R
Magdalena 30 f R
Caroline 7 f
Rosie 6 f
John 4 m
There are 2 single males living next door:
VOGT Samuel 26 m R
KEINER James 16 m

I imagine this is the same Sam Vogt that is living with the Dewein family you have listed in the 1880 census.

Also in the Central Twnshp:

MEYERS Richard 27 m R
STADELMANN John G. 39 m R
DEWEIN Jacob 22 m R

-----------------------------------------------------
I wont relist your John Dewein family in the 1880 census. However, you missed the household of Jacob, which was listed as De Wein.
Suburbs of Perryville, enumeration district #103 June 1-3
Household #132
DE WEIN Jacob 29 M GER Barber GER GER

The 1890 special census for Union Vets and Widows lists:
DEWRIN, John Pvt. A 1st MO. Cav. 1-Aug-1861 - 11-Nov-1864
This may or may not be your John Dewain.
