Kim,

Could your Lavinia have been previously married? I found the following record on the Pemiscot County GenWeb site:

Pemiscot County
Marriage Book 1 1882-1884
Taylor, Albert H. to Lavina Whittenton, p. 75

It doesn't provide the exact date, but with this information it would be easy to request a copy of the record from the county clerk. Most records I have seen will list the bride's name as 'Miss' or 'Mrs.'

Here's the link to the marriage book listings:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~mopemis2/marriages/index.htm

Hope this helps. Good luck! :-)
