Any spelling variation of HAMELBACK, please share your information and queries.
I've seen HAMMELBACK, HAMELBACH, HAMMELBACH, HIMMELBACK, HAMMERBACK, and even misspelled as badly as HEMMELBELCH.
Personally, I'm looking for the ancestors of Emerson L. HAMELBACK of Pemiscot County, Missouri. He was born 7 SEP 1881 and died 2 OCT 1953 (death certificate) or 18 SEP 1953 (book of cemetery inscriptions). His death certificate says that his father's name was Joe HAMELBACK. Emerson apparently lived his entire life in Pemiscot Co., MO. He is buried in Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds, Pulaski Co., Illinois.
He married a number of times: Effie FOX (17 FEB 1901), Lillie LONDON (23 AUG 1903), and Stella May SMITH Stephens Terrell (20 JAN 1910).
I'm interested in hearing from any and all Hamelbacks. It doesn't appear to be a very large family, although there are definitely American roots back to at least 1800.
