2 first cousins named Nancy Jane Smith and Nancy Ann Smith.
Both were born in Missouri 1834. Nancy Jane a dau of Jesse and Sarah Smith, and Nancy Ann dau of his older bro Elijah and Jane Tripp Smith. All are shown in 1850 census Greene CO MO Benton T/S.
Nancy Jane Simpson was shown 1860 census Taney CO living with Jesse and Sarah and has sons William Marshall Simpson age 4 and son Jesse Simpson age 1. Her husband was John Harden Simpson living next door with his father Joshua Simpson, and also living there is 2 girls ages 2-5. (names shown elsewhere)
One of these girls was Sarah Ann Simpson that later married Thomas Jeremiah Hackler born 1873 and they later lived in Longrun Ozark CO MO. The father of Thos Jeremiah said to be Jesse Hackler born 1813 and 3rd wife Nancy Jane Smith born 1834 MO. Sarah Ann Simpson was said to be dau of John Harden Simpson.
What seems so confusing is that Sarah ann Simpson is said to be a sister of William Marshall Simpson, and if this is true then Nancy Smith was her mother, grandmother or her cousin.
Our family history is that Nancy Jane Smith Simpson died after 1860 in Christian CO MO, and that the Nancy Smith 3rd wife of Jesse Hackler is really Nancy Ann Smith dau of Elijah and Jane Tripp Smith.
Coincidence maybe, but Jane Tripp Smith lived in Dent CO MO 1870 census and in Douglas CO Ave area in 1880. Also her son William Jasper Smith lived in Ava, and later in Longrun, and burried in Hicks Cemetery Longrun. Also my G Grandfather Manuel Jackson Smith was a half bro to Jesse and Elijah Smith, and lived from 1855 to 1910 in Ozark CO Zannoni/Sycamore area nd once owned Hodgson Mill.
Who knows that the 2 Nancy Smiths were 1st coussins, and for sure which one married Jesse hackler?????
Thanks Bill Smith
