I was looking for info. on my Theodosia Ozark Co. Mo. family and ran arcross your question.
Dean Wallace has written about "Our Friend Family" in the "White River Valley Historical Quartley". He speaks of the old Betsey Graham cemetery.
Here is a little of that he wrote:
Elijah, son of James and Jane Friend, b. 1833, in Arkansas, D. 1917. He m. no.1 Nancy Brown 1856; she died, 1863, at Marsh- field, Mo., one child, Elisabeth, b. 1858, who married Bennett Taber of Taney County at Theodoshia. Elizabeth, d. 1941 in OkIa. Their children were: (a) Dellia, m. Estes d. in OkIa., (b) John, m. Elizbeth Gran, d. in Oklahoma. (c) Roy d. at En id, OkIa. (d) Eliza, d. in OkIa. (e) Jess, d. Tulsa, OkIa. (f) Homer lives in OkIa. (g) Richard, d. Chandler, Okla.
After Nancy's death, Elijah m no.2 Mary Haskins Herd dau. of Marlin and Mary Ruth Herd, 1865. Mary, b. 1840 in Tenn.; d. 1883, at Theodosia, Mo. Elijah worked as a miller, carpenter, and farmer. He served with Union forces in Civil War and drew a pension. It is said (not proven) that he donated the land for the original Friend cemetery at Theodosia. It was known as Betsy Graham Friend for many years.
I believe this was the old Friend cemetery which was moved, because of Bull Shoals Lake flooding the Old Theodosia site.
You may already know all this, but then again you may not. Hope it helped. Dinah Friend Ringer
