Thanks for straightening it out for all of us. I will correct my records. Piney Murrell was the daughter of Thomas Lawson Jr was the son of Thomas Lawson Sr of Hawkins County. Other known and implied children of Thomas Lawson Sr were Peter, Richard, Alum, Meredith, John Jackson, Alcy, Lydia plus a number of other unknown daughters. I am hoping that someone will put together a good genealogy of the Ozark County Murrells and Lawsons related to the Murrells.
William Murrell was the son of Pleasant G. Murrell and Susan Trent. Pleasant Murrell is known to be the son of William Murrell and Vina (Malvina?) Cobb, daughter of Joel Cobb. They had four known children before Vina died--Pleasant, Mary, Mitchell and Charlotte. William Murrell then married Vina's sister Francis, and moved to Taney County, Missouri and had a new family. They were all born in the 1840s. So, those are your cousins. There is quite a bit of information about them.
The children Vina were apparently left with their grandfather James Murrell from Hancock County. Court documents leave little doubt that James Murrell was the illegitimate son of William Martin of Hawkins County, TN--probably by the wife of Thomas Murrell. William's brother, James Orville Murrell lived in Howell County, Missouri in 1900 but moved back to Hawkins County. James' sons Dalzell and Palestine moved to the west and were never heard from again as far as I can tell. I have only been able to find them in a couple of censuses after 1900. Joel Lawson, living in Ozark County in 1900, was the nephew of William Murrell. Joel (Joseph) married Thomas Lawson's daughter--apparently a second marriage for her.
