My family, the Callais, came over in the 1850s from France and settled in Chamois area. Charles Callais md. Marie Rosa Morreau in France their son was Julius Callais of Chamois. Maybe they knew each other. Well I don't know anything about a Joseph Comby but will keep my eyes open if I see anything I'll mention it.
