You might also check the library and contact the Genealogical Society. Several of the Society's members work as volunteers at the library and I know for a fact that they have old obits there although I don't know how far they go back. Mail your request to: THE OREGON COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY c/o Courthouse PO BOX 324 ALTON, MISSOURI 65606 (417) 778-6414 The Oregon County Genealogical Society Newsletter is published quarterly (Jan, April, July, and Oct.) Individuals are invited to submit queries and news articles to the society at the address above for publication. Research of county records and/or library holdings is done by a society volunteer. A fee of $3.00 per surname is requested for members and $5.00 per surname is requested for non-members. Please limit your search to three (3) questions per letter and enclose a SASE. Photo copies of documents from the courthouse records are 20 cents per page. If you aren't a member, it is well worth joining. They newsletters always have things of interest like old articles, obits, or Civil War rosters or even mortality schedules listed. I have found several things in the newsletters that I would not normally have known where to look, much less the info itself. Let me know how else I can help.
