Hi Debbie, Sue and I are looking for the same persons - Joseph Vincent and his wife, Amanda M. (Gunter) Vincent. I don't believe we ever knew he had a middle name, that is to say in any records thus far found, there is none. However, the reference to the 56th Illinois Infantry, Civil War, seems to confirm this is indeed the Joseph Vincent we are looking for. We would be especially pleased to find any newspaper obituary on him or funeral home record. They were listed in the 1900 King Township, Oregon County, Missouri census. As I understand, Oregon County and Ripley County border each other. There may be a burial record of his daughter and son-in-law there also, Rufus and Catherine Elliott. We would appreciate any and all confirmations. Thanks for your interest in replying. Gary L. Shaffer in Illinois P.S. I would bet that if there is a gravemarker for Joseph that shows Co. H, 56th Ill. Inf. that it is the standard government marker provided for deceased military veterans.
