NEW INFORMATION FOUND.
HENRY BARTLETT (1870-1951) was born
in St.Lawrence County,New York NOT Trenton,
New Jersey as once thought.
My grandpa HENRY BARTLETT was an ORPHAN TRAIN
Rider sent from St.Lawrence Co.,New York on
31May1881 to Nodaway Co.Missouri.Through the
Childrens Aid Society Of New York, I found
where my grandpa was placed and the families he lived with in Nodaway County,MO.Am very grateful for their help.
HENRY BARTLETT lived there until 1894 when he married my Grandma Carrie Agnes Perue . They moved to Wyoming.
My grandpa Henry BARTLETT stated his "sister"
Cora GARRETT lived in Pleasanton,
Kansas in 1930-1951 time frame. Cora (Bartlett?)KINDER born 1868 in New York or Missouri married
Dexter N GARRETT ca 1897 in Nodaway Co.MO.
They had a son Everett N GARRETT.
They are on the 1920 Linn Co.Kansas Census.
Everett N GARRETT died at Pleasant, Linn Co.
Kansas in 1989.
Grandpa HENRY BARTLETT spent the last 21 years of his life in a hospital.I am trying to reconstruct his life from a few notes.
Henry BARTLETT was found on the 1880 St.Lawrence Co.New York census in Canton's Children Home.He had sisters Cynthia b1862; Margaret b1865; Cora M born 1868; Minnie b1871; Mary J b1873 and Malinda b1874 BARTLETT.
Was this sister CORA sent to Nodaway Co.MO to live with the KINDER family?
Is this Henry's sister?
Henry's father was HIRAM BARTLETT and his mother was Sarah BROWN. Hiram BARTLETT served in the Civil War in the Infantry and also Heavy Artillery. He was wounded at
Cold Harbor,Virginia and received a Civil War Pension.
He was born in Duane, Franklin Co.New York and the family lived in St.Lawrence County,New York.
Just recently received Hiram BARTLETT'S Civil War records from the National Archives
and what a wonderful experience to open files and read about a family I knew nothing about. What a history lesson I learned from these papers.
