Seeking information on JACOB DOWNS, born ca. 1910, possibly in Montgomery Co., KY, reportedly a son of Abraham Downs and his wife, Hannah Allen, and Jacob's wife, MARGARET MORRIS, born ca. 1808 in Greene Co., TN, reported the daughter of Richard Morris and his wife, Catherine Teel (Tiel, Diehl), whom Jacob married 4 July 1830 near Gosport, Owen Co., Indiana. Jacob and his wife moved to Marshall, Clark Co., Illinois before 1850, and resided on a farmer in Douglas Twp., Clark Co. until after 1860. The family moved to Newtonia, Benton Twp., Newton Co., Missouri by 1870 when Jacob, a farmer, his wife, and their son PARIS ("PERRY") and his family appear there in the Federal census of that year. Children of JACOB DOWNS and his wife, MARGARET MORRIS, all born in Clark Co., IL: (1) JAMES, b. ca. 1831; (2) ANN ELIZA (or ELIZA ANN), b. ca. 1833; married WILLIAM W. DYER 25 June 1854 Clark Co., IL; (3) ROBERT, b. ca. 1835; (4) PARIS ("Perry"), b. abt. 1841; married CATHERINE MORGAN 20 July 1862 Clark Co., IL; (5) SARAH, b. ca. 1846; married JOSEPH ROCKWELL 29 Jul 1863 Clark Co., IL; and (6) MAY, b. ca. 1849 and died before 1860.
Children of PARIS ("PERRY") DOWNS and his wife, CATHERINE MORGAN, all but Sarah born in Illinois: (1) REBECCA, b. ca. 1863; (2) DANIEL, b. ca. 1865; (3) JACOB, b. ca. 1867; died 31 July 1944 Picher, Ottawa Co., Oklahoma, with burial in the GAR Cemetery, Miami, Ottawa Co., OK; married Clara Florence NN; and (4) SARAH, b. ca. July 1869, probably in Newtonia, MO.
Did JACOB DOWNS and his wife, CATHERINE MORGAN die in Newton Co.? What became of their children?
