James MAXWELL, born 26 Feb.1772 married Sarah MOORE, born 4 Dec. 1768, in Blount Co.,Tennessee 19 Aug. 1802. James and Sarah M. Maxwell died in Randolph Co., MO. He died after the 1840 census and she died 25 June 1848.

Their son, John MAXWELL was born 23 June 1805 in TN., probably Lincoln County, TN. He married Mary FOX on 1 June 1826. She was born 1 May 1802 in NC. John MAXWELL is listed in the 1860 Mortality Schedule of Monroe County, MO. He died 16 August 1859. Mary Fox Maxwell ,his wife, died 15 March 1868. John Maxwell was a miller in Monroe Co. Many of these Maxwell family members are buried in Sugar Creek Cemetery.

Sally Maxwell, daughter of James and Sarah Moore Maxwell, sister to John Maxwell, married G.W.WESTFALL 31 Oct. 1840 in Randolph Co. (Is this the Westfall family that originated in Augusta Col, VA?)

James and John Maxwell migrated to MO circa 1835 and probably came from Lincoln Co., TN before settling in and around Randolph County, MO. James MAXWELL died there 23 March 1842. They may connect to the Christian and Logan Co., Kentucky Maxwells.

Children of John Maxwell and Mary Fox Maxwell were Susan A. Maxwell, who married John E. H. Amick 184. Harriet E. Maxwell married C. J. S. (Jackson) Riley 1851. William J. Maxwell married Cornelia E. Austin 1859. Sarah M. Maxwell married Joseph W. Haynes 1857. Hugh. Frank. Maxwell married Elizabeth Gregg in Livingston County, MO about1866. William J. and Hugh Frank Maxwell served in the 10th Missouri Infantry CSA, Company A.

Their daughter Hortense Jennie Maxwell (my line) married Joseph BEATTY somewhere in MO.. Jennie Maxwell Beatty and a brother moved to Livingston County, MO. After the Civil War the Beatty's went to Travis County, TX where both are buried. Would love to hear from anyone with information on this family. Thanks.
