Thanks for looking for him. Why Missouri? He was born c:1774 in Virginia, married Mary Head 5 Jan 1792 in Woodford Co., KY, spent time in Oldham Co., KY, came to MO with his family c:1821, and was last documented about 1835-40 in Monroe Co., MO. Please excuse the rough dates as I am answering you away from my notes. If I am correct, his daughter, Mary Burton, married Jonathan Riggs on 12 May 1825 in Ralls Co., MO. The Riggs' moved to Iowa for a time before leaving for Oregon on a wagon train in 1852. I really have no idea where Reuben Burton died or left a will (if he had a will), but he would have been about 65 when he last left any record that I could find of his existence - in Monroe Co., MO.
Could he have moved in his later years? Certainly, but I found no record of him in Oregon, Iowa, or Illinois. I do not have access to so much data that I flat don't know what happened to him (or Mary Head for that matter).
Any help you can give will be much appreciated. This has been a 35 year search spread over three generations of my family.
