Hugh Meredith, Civil War (USA) Surgeon.

Mark Twain talks about a Dr. Meredith. He's also cited as a founder of a subscription library in Hannibal in the 1850s. Could this be the same Hugh Meredith (more likely it's a son or nephew) who was listed as assistant surgeon in the 22nd Missouri Volunteer Infantry.

One Henry A. Meredith is listed as a 2nd Lt. in the same unit.

Any help identifying either would be much appreciated.
