Joanne:
Permelia (Ann) Forbes/Forbis, wife of Robert Forbis, was born between 1851-1855 in Monroe County to Joseph Wilcox Helm and Nancy Washington Mallory (one of eight children). She was my 2nd great-grandaunt. Her sister, Susan Helm, was my great-great grandmother.
Permelia and Robert had two sons, Oliver "Ollie" and Clarence. Clarence was born between 1880-1883.
The family was actually living next door to Permelia's sister, Mary, and her husband, Clark Guire during the above mentioned 1880 Census.
Permelia died in 1883. Robert would later marry Permelia's first cousin once removed, Bennie Hester Mallory, daughter of Benjamin and Sarah (Sallie) Mallory, Jr.
Hope this sheds some light on this family and if you have any additional information you can share, I would love to have it.
By the way, Nancy Washington Mallory Helm's will listed her grandchildren as "Oley and Clarence Forbish"--yet another spelling of the name.
