Hi Carolyn.....From The History of Monroe Co., MI., by Talcott E. Wing 1890, Under Bedford Township:
Corydon James CHAPEL, a farmer on section 16, in Bedford, is a native of Grand Blanc, Genesse Co., Michigan, where he was born February 21, 1836, his parents being William and Lydia (Burns) Chapel. In 1846 he came to Bedford, and January 23, 1863, married Emily S., daughter of William P. and Mary (Willard) Hubbell. Wakeman, born August 09, 1854, (looks like a typo, I think it should be 1864) is their only child. A member of the Free Will Baptist Church, he is a strong advocate of Temperance, and as a Prohibitionst, carries his principles to the ballot box.
From Marriage Records of Monroe Co., MI. Volume I, 1817-1864:
CHAPEL Gordon J., 28 yrs, Resident: Bedford
HUBBELL Emma S., 22 yrs, R: Bedford
M'd: 23 Jan 1862 in Township of Bedford by Rev. Morris King
Wit: Thomas Palmerton & Lewis W. Willard R: Bedford
I hope this helps.......
Mike
