I found the assistance request in the Senate record, January 1849, and the mention of it in the House journal as well. My guess is he was in the Mexican American War as a musician. Was the right time period. Mr. Hancock made the motion and it was referred to the Claims committee. I think this was John Hancock of Greene County. Then a Mr. Jones made the motion later. He was from Newton. I thought this would help figure out where Theodore was living, but don't think it does.
