John J. Caldwell (Post Oak, Johnson, Missouri, abt 1861)

Hello, I am looking for any and all information concerning John J. Caldwell. I have found that John's last name had various spellings such as CALDWELL, CULWELL, and COLWELL. As far as I know these are all in reference to the same remarkably storied individual. He was by all accounts my fathers grandfather on his mothers side. I would enjoy and appreciate any and all stories, references, and information on this man, my great grandfather.

I have been unable to locate a Death Certificate for John J. Caldwell. I did find him in the 1910 MT Census. He was living in Valley County, MT. It states that he was born in 1862 in Missouri, his father's birthplace: Kentucky, his mother's birthplace: Virginia.

I have many MT newspaper articles of his whereabouts while he lived in the MT area. He was a soldier in the 5th Infantry at Fort Keogh, MT. He also was an employee for the N-N cattle company in MT. I am using this forum in hopes of finding more information about his early life and the time he spent living in Missouri.
