1963-vintage Dameron family history -- with Missouri connections
I have a pdf file of a 1963-vintage, typed-manuscript, Dameron family history. The history was put together by one Otha Dameron, of the Pacific Northwest I believe.I also have a few pages of a typed update Otha Dameron did dated 1964 and again in 1974.
This history starts with one John Dameron, b. ???, either in the Atlantic coastal region or maybe Scotland, but the attestation to the Scotland idea is very weak.I suspect it more likely he or his ancestors came out of the Virginia clan of Damerons. He Married Betsy Boyd circa 1813, ostensibly near Gaston county, North Carolina. There is little to no information on this man.It is not even certain that his name was John.He was my great great great grandfather.
The history mostly follows one of his sons, Dixon Dameron, and Dixon's descendants, a particularly large number who moved onward with the western expansion of the US and many of whom live(d, in 1963) in Western states, including Washington, Oregon, California and Colorado.Dixon was b. April 17, 1817, (apparently near Gaston county, North Carolina). Married circa 1840, moved to Illinois in 1856, then on to Missouri. He was my great great grandfather.
If anyone is interested in having a look at this information, send me an email.
I just created this genforum.genealogy.com user ID today, and I do not expect to log onto this forum more than a few times.
Cheers,
(Y.A.) Dameron
