It does make things confusing. Was Debode the correct name or did the census taker make a mistake when writing it down. Is Mary J Murray their mother or sister or some other relation? She could have married a Thomas Murry or Marmaduke and his brother could be her illegitimate sons. It might help if you can locate Marmaduke and Delouvous in the 1870 census. I've looked and can't find them or James and Louisa Caffey either. There's a marriage record in Cooper Co, MO from 1861 for a Miss Mary J Murry and John W. Russell.
I noticed after I posted the message that the marriage record from Adair Co is for 1856. That's about 10 years too late for James and Louisa Caffey/Coffey. I don't know if that's the wrong marriage record or if the web site I found it on is in error on the date.
