Lorena,
He did contact me so I copied his reply:
Hi Donna, This is Richard, Thomas Corbit was born in Tennessee, when he was very young his father moved to Jackson Co. Al. which at that time was Cherokee Indian land, I think his father was Benjamin Corbit, In about 1818 the Goverment decided to move the whites out of Indain land, Benjamin and Thomas Corbit signed a petition against being moved out of Indain land, I think Thomas married a cherokee woman in about 1823 in Jackson Co. Al. In 1834 Thomas married Margaret in Jackson Co. Al. I have been unable to find Margarets last name, she may also be cherokee, A lot of the courthouse records were destroyed in the Civil War, so we may never be able to prove who she was. The andersons were from Tn. by way of Al. to Ar. so were the Corbits and the Higgins and the Wanns who all moved to Lawrence Co. Ar. These four families are all connected. So long for now Richard

At least I have a Benjamin Corbit to look for now.
Thanks, Donna
