Childers - Mexican American War
Posted by: Art Dube (ID *****8423) Date: August 21, 2007 at 20:40:22

Greetings,
My G-G-Grandfather's last name was Childers and according to notes passed on to me by my mother, he fought in the Mexican American War and died either by wounds or illness.
His wife is Nancy J. Childers (not her maiden name, not sure of her maiden name). They had two children, one being Martha E.L.Childers, born abt 1852. Since Nancy J Childers remarries in 1854 to a Joseph Cossart from Arkansas my guess is that Nancy's first husband died between 1852-1854.

Census notes state Nancy Jane Childers was born in South Carolina.
Census notes also state that Martha was born in Arkansas.

Need: First name of Nancy's first husband, and any information about him especially as it relates to the Mex-Amer. War.

Thanks,

Art
