Mansfield, Mo., Dec. 23.--Owen BOOTH, a constable, is dead; Tom APPLIN dying, and a
half dozen others were wounded as a result of a shooting affray near the Douglass
county line, seven miles south of here this morning. Constable BOOTH's posse
attempted to search the house of a German named COONSEY, who had been accused of burglary.
COONSEY resisted, and opened fire with a double-barreled shot gun, with the above
result.
