I don’t have access to the 1930 census from home. When did Walter marry Bernice? If it was after 1930, there’s a good chance Walter and his first wife will be listed on it. If someone else can’t pull up the details, I’d be happy to take a look next time I visit my library.
If you can get to a library and view these, I’d highly recommend it. There are a lot of Koch families enumerated. You can probably trace many of your direct line’s siblings, cousins, etc. using these documents.
