My thoughts are the best way to confirm Thomas to belong to William is to check out Pittsburg county for anything on an estate for William. Also check out deeds...William owned property and if he died while owning land, then eventually that land would have been sold out of the family. When that happened, in order to give clear title all the heirs of William would have had to sign off, along with their spouse. See if you find anything for this in the grantee indexes, under "estate of" or "heirs of" or similar, or under individual's names. See if Thomas sold off any land, and check the deed description for how he obtained title. If it was through William's estate, that should be mentioned within.
