born and raised in K.C.,MO - in only ONE county which goes to the west state line. North K.C. is across the river in Clay Co., MO. K.C. KS is in Wyandotte Co. There are 2 courthouses in Jackson Co., MO each with separate records One is in downtown K.C., MO the other in Independence, MO.
Death records are on microfilm in both. Marriage records in Jackson Co (downtown KC) are online. Birth records are NOT available. Many Obits are in the Main Library Genealogy Reference Room near the Courthouse.
Good Luck!
