Joseph Rueben Bingman burial place---Pulaski county, MO ...?
Here are the facts for Joseph Reuben Bingman's burial :
- He had cancer of the nose which was service related. (Examining Surgeon’s
Certificate, 5 Sep 1883 Joseph R Bingman achieved the rank of Corporal in Company D, 143rd Infantry
Illinois. He was 57 years of age, weighed 133 pounds and was 5 feet, 9 inches tall.
He had a scab covered sore on the top of his nose, measuring ½ inch by ¾ inch.
The surgeon reported “Otherwise he seems to be well in every way, so far as we can see”
and he is “at a loss as to how to rate such a unique cause of action.”)
- 13 Oct 1883, Original Invalid Pension was rejected.
- He lived in or around Republic, Greene Co MO
- He traveled to Waynesville, Pulaski Co MO in October 1886. (Was he seeking
medical help in Waynesville?)
- Perhaps he was visiting his brother, David Stafford Bingman. David subsequently died
in Laclede Co MO in 1895.
- Richard says David Stafford Bingmand lived around Stoutland and search of the
Camden County MO is needed.
- A grandson, Thomas Benjamin Adams, left a hand written note "Burried in MEYERS
Cemetery, near Billings MO." (We know the statement 'near Billings MO' is in error
there are no cemeteries in the Billings area called MEYERS.)
- 5 Sep 1891, General Affidavit of Thomas B & Susan Hester Adams. Stating they attended the
funeral of JRB on 20 Oct 1886 in Pulaski Co MO. Susan’s age is given as 31 years old.
Susan gives her residence as Republic MO. The Adams’ are referred to as “neighbors” no
mention that Susan was Joseph R Bingman’s daughter.
- 30 Dec 1898, General Affidavit given by H T & Mary A Pettitt. They stated they were
acquainted with Joseph R Bingman at the time of his death. “He died very suddenly, dropped dead at the
supper table and supposed to of died from heart failure.” This confirms the family legend
regarding his death. (NOTE: THE PETTITT’s WERE RESIDENTS OF COOKVILLE
MO, WHERE MY COOK & MYERS FAMILIES LIVED AND DIED. ALSO, H T PETTITT
IS BURRIED IN MACEDONIA CEMETERY ON FT LEONARD WOOD. HE DIED 6 APR
1899).
And so the search goes on. Although there is no resolution to the question of where Joseph Reuben Bingman is buried.
