COL. NATHANIEL COOK
Looking for information on Col. Nathaniel Cook.I descend from Martha "Patsy" Cook, and have been told that she was his daughter, but can't find anything to verify.Would appreciate any information.I did read that about the year 1800, Nathaniel Cook located a claim in what is still known as Cook's Settlement, in the south-eastern part of the St. Francois county. Then, in 1819, when Madison County was organized, the land on Saline Creek opposite St. Michaels was owned by Col. Nathaniel Cook and a new town was laid out and named Fredericktown in honor of Col. George Frederick Bollinger, a very good friend of Col. Cook.Nathaniel Cook served in the War of 1812, 2nd Regiment, County of Ste. Genevieve.Nathaniel is shown on the Madison County Tax Payers List for 1819-1826. But, that's all I can find.
Does anyone have any information on him? Thanks.
