Hi,
I have been researching the Missouri-Kansas Border Wars and Civil War west of the Mississippi for several years.
I have been researching the Missouri-Kansas Border Wars and Civil War west of the Mississippi for several years. There was a cavalry in Missouri. It may have been the US Army or it may have been the Missouri State Guard. In addition, your ancestor may have been a member of any number of citizen-militia cavalry units patroling the North Missouri River Valley area - looking for jayhawkers coming in from Kansas. They were burning and looting in the area at that time.
