In Charleys obituary, it mentioned him having two sisters and four brothers surviving him in Platte City, Mo. Can anyone connect with him?
I have checked the Platte Co. site. I have checked the Mo. Genforum. Someone even checked KindredConnect for his name, but only 4 Charles K. Lewis, but dates do not match. Does anyone have this man in their line outside of Mo.? His death papers I recieved from Iowa said Mo. His wifes obit says Platte City, Mo. but i cannot seem to find him in Mo
The family stayed close to the Davis's I know that. I was sent a 1900 Platte Co. Census showing Charles with his inlaws and wife. It mentions his Father being from texas and Mother from Missouri, but no names.
In 1908 they were in Hancock Co, Ill., according to a class picture of the Cottage School-1908.
This is what else was sent to me that may help and may not help.
A Charles K Lewis was found in Douglass Co., Missouri i believe a marriage info as he married a Malinda Shaver on January 8th, 1857..Douglas County Missouri
There was also a Charles K. Lewis sited in Leavonworth City that I am wondering if they are the same man as in Douglass Co. Could this man be a name sake of my Great Grandfather???
Perhaps the following man is your Charles Kemper Lewis's ancestor or name sake.
Recoved From Arlen Flanagan,
In Leavenworth County Kansas in the 1860 Leavenworth City Directory, there was a Charles K. Lewis, copper, boarding at the Golden Gate, south side of Miami Street, between Fourth and Fifth Street.
You might want to check the 1860 Kansas Territorial census.
A cooper, was a barrel maker.
I check the 1859 thru 1905 Leavenworth City, Kansas directories, and did not find this Charles K. Lewis.
However, I did find an earlier generation Charles K. Lewis in the early part of the search; that might be his ancestor or name sake. I posted that a day or two ago on one of the genforums you use, where the name Charles K. (or Kemper) Lewis is in your title.
